One of the safest neighborhoods of Chicago's infamous South Side, Hyde Park sits on the east edge of the city next to Lake Michigan. It also plays host to the University of Chicago, giving the area the unique feel of a college town subsumed in the greater bustle of the big city. Along the same lines, Hyde Park is known as a particularly liberal enclave in an already very liberal city— former President Barack Obama has long lived in the area.
